How to Host a Voter Registration Sunday

How Does This Change My Sundays?
The morning runs as it normally does, with a table added. It goes up wherever your congregation gathers after the service, a volunteer sits at it, and anyone who wants to register fills in a form there and hands it back. Anyone unsure whether their registration still holds can stop at the same table to check.
Your church would supply the room. A volunteer organization can be arranged to staff the table, collect forms, and provide assistance to registrants.

No Costs and No Political Affiliation
No party or candidate content would come with any of this: no voter guide, no scorecard, no ballot recommendation and no position on an issue. Nobody from Faith Votes USA would speak from your pulpit or be in the building at all.
We would take no names, addresses or contact details from the day. The completed forms go from your table to the county registrar and nowhere else, and nothing about your congregation would reach us.
Hosting costs the church nothing and commits it to nothing afterward. There is no membership, no report to file with us, no second Sunday owed and no further contact unless you ask for it. How many Sundays you hold, and what the morning looks like, is your decision.
Questions Before You Say Yes
Does the church have to pay for anything?
No. Nothing we would provide carries a charge, and there is nothing for the church to buy or rent. No money would change hands on the day or afterward.
Who is allowed to be the volunteer?
Each state sets their own rules, so start with your own state’s election authority, and vote.gov (opens in a new tab) lists them.
What if nobody at our church can do the training?
A church with no appointed volunteer can still put blank forms out and help anyone who asks with filling one in, and that path asks for neither an appointment nor training. Where a volunteer organization can be arranged near you, we would offer an introduction to one.
Can we do this on more than one Sunday?
Yes, as many Sundays as you want. How many, and how far apart, is entirely the church’s decision, and we would not ask for a second one or treat a single Sunday as unfinished. If you want to hold another later, check with the county that your volunteer’s appointment still covers the date.
What happens to the forms after the service?
Your appointed volunteer hands registration forms directly to the county registrar. Delivery is performed within five days of form collection. For specific laws around voter registration, check your state’s election authority.
